Key Responsibilities

This position reports to and will be supervised by the Senior Investments Officer – Back Office and Compliance.

  1. Transaction Processing & Settlement
  • Assist in confirming, processing, and settling treasury and investment transactions in line with internal policies and timelines.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations to verify the movement of funds and resolve discrepancies.
  • Receive, verify, and dispatch deal confirmation certificates to counterparties.
  1. Data Management & System Support
  • Accurately input investment and treasury data into the Investment Management Information System (IMIS) and ensure timely updates.
  • Monitor the functionality of the IMIS and report any system issues or inconsistencies.
  • Maintain and update physical and digital records of investment contracts, agreements, and supporting documentation.
  1. Reconciliation & Reporting
  • Assist in reconciling investment transactions, currency positions, and data between front office and back-office systems.
  • Assist in reconciling transactions between finance and other collaborating department.
  • Support the preparation of monthly and ad hoc investment performance and compliance reports.
  • Maintain daily logs of all investment and treasury activities for audit and tracking purposes.
  1. Compliance & Risk Monitoring
  • Conduct preliminary due diligence on transactions to identify potential risks or irregularities.
  • Monitor transaction timelines and escalate delays to ensure prompt settlement and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
  • Report back-office incidents and assist in implementing corrective actions under supervision.
  1. Market Research & Analysis Support
  • Assist in collecting and analysing market data to support investment decision-making.
  • Contribute to the identification of new investment opportunities through basic research and data interpretation.
  • Support the revaluation of foreign exchange positions and check rate appropriateness for all deals.
  1. Stakeholder Coordination
  • Liaise with third-party back-office service providers to ensure accurate and timely data exchange.
  • Track and document progress on investments, flagging issues for escalation.
  1. Administrative & Budgetary Support
  • Provide administrative assistance during the budgeting and investment planning processes.
  • Support the coordination of internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and reports.
Education Requirements
  • 5 "O" Levels with credit and above including Mathematics and English
  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounts, Economics, or Business Administration, ACCA/CIMA/Finance related fields 
  • At least 3 years of experience in an Investments or Treasury Operations/Back Office, in an organization with similar investment scope and size, as an investments and/or treasury officer, analyst or treasurer.
  • Added Advantage: ACI Dealing or Operations Certificate; The Investment Advisors & Stockbrokers certification awarded by the Zambia Pensions and Insurance College Trust and The Securities Exchange Commission.
