Key Responsibilities

To ensure Authority assets and people are efficiently and effectively secured. This will include proactive means such as loss prevention and reactive means that include investigating and recovering losses. The security officer will be responsible for marking locations of assets, verifying their asset numbers in cases of movements both out and into Authority premises. The Officer will also serve as the default liaison person for third party security service providers. The Office will have jurisdiction at every Authority premise and at every location where the Authority has interest in form of assets or people. 

 

Principle Accountabilities 

 

Principle Accountabilities for this role include but are not limited to the following: 

 

Effectively monitor events with the intention to pick up any associated security concerns. 

Detect patterns of behavior using security equipment such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV), motor vehicle tracking, drones etc. in order to protect company property and employees. 

Monitor all access points to company premises in order to prevent unauthorized entry and provide controlled exit and entry of all Authority assets. 

Maintain correct, accurate and timely daily, weekly and monthly logs of all security events monitored and capture on CCTV and other company security systems. 

Detect security breaches within Authority operational areas and enforce regulations. 

Provide accurate and timely information on security events in readiness for reporting to the police or for prosecution. 

Support prosecution in the courts of law all cases of theft and vandalism involving company materials. 

Coach and monitor hired guards deployed on various Authority premises in order to ensure effective and efficient guard-ship and monitoring duties and patrols. 

Effectively communicate with law enforcement agencies' stakeholders whenever crime or security incidents are noticed or reported in the system. 

Maintain links with all security units in all locations within the Authority in order to effectively manage rapid response to any security breach that might occur. 

Receive security breach notifications, with managements approval to investigate them fully to establish facts and recommend remedial measures. 

Any other responsibility as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education Requirements

Grade twelve (12) School certificate with 5 ‘O’ levels with credit or better including Mathematics and English Language.                                                                                           

Must have a Diploma in Business Administration, Law, Police duties, peace and conflict resolution or equivalent. A degree will be an added advantage. 

Required Skills

Extensive knowledge of the security industry. 

 Attention to detail. 

  Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, and ability to work under pressure  

Good oral and written communication skills. 

Proficiency in office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and many other relevant applications.                                                          

Ability to work with limited supervision and highly organized.
